MY JOURNEY & PASSIONS

I have been the minister of London Network Church (East Acton Baptist) for over 30 years.
I have a great passion for evangelism, discipleship and church growth. I have a real desire to see renewal and revival in the UK and across our Baptist movement. With that in mind I enjoyed serving as a director and moderator of London Baptists over a 6-year period and also being involved in the BU Council, the Baptist Steering Group (BSG) and BU leadership in various ways since about 2010. I am married to Dorcas with 3 grown up children. I enjoy swimming, reading, travelling and trying to speak French.
I have always had a passion for the local church and over the years, led my church in relational and community outreach. In recent years I have been involved in the leadership of the London Turning and it has been a delight to see many people responding to the gospel on the streets and discipling people from many different backgrounds including former Muslims, the homeless, refugees and many Millennials and Gen Zs. Another area that is important to me is training and mentoring the next generation of leaders and I am presently studying a masters in Transformational Leadership.
I am thrilled to connect with Baptist Ministers, their churches and influencers making an impact across the nation.
VP's Favourite Things
MY PRESIDENTIAL THEME FOR 2026 - 2027
THEME: WALKING WORTHY
As the elected president of the Baptist Union of Great Britain the theme on my heart is “Walking Worthy”. I believe we have a great movement that has incredible historical roots based on biblical foundations of a believer’s church, believers’ baptism, discipleship, and freedom of conscience. I would love to have the privilege of travelling the country and ‘shouting about’ all the incredible things that are happening in our Baptist family in small and large churches, Associations and Colleges.
THREE WAYS WE CAN WALK WORTHY:
There are three ways I want to encourage us to “walk worthy of our calling” (Ephesians 4: 1) emphasised by the apostle Paul:
-
Firstly, by being JESUS CENTRED; I want to encourage us to walk in humility and to maintain the unity of the Spirit through our relationship with the Father, Son & Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:2-5).
-
Secondly, by being COMMUNITY ORIENTATED; I want to celebrate the unity of the faith with the diversity of gifts Christ has given us (Ephesians 4:11).
-
Thirdly by being MISSION FOCUSSED; I want us to courageously speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).
Alex will serve as President from May 2026 - May 2027 and will be inaugurated at Harrogate Convention Centre 15-17 May 2026 at the forthcoming Baptist Assembly. The former Baptist President (May 2024- May 2025) is Steve Finamore, who now serves as post President.
THEME: WALKING WORTHY

London Network Church's Theme
WALKING WORTHY
God is speaking to us as a church to Walk Worthy of His calling in 2026.
There are three ways Paul emphasises this in Ephesians 4:
1) BEING JESUS CENTRED. (Ephesians 4: 1 – 6). This year we truly believe we will need to live as Jesus lived in radical obedience to God.
2) BEING AN ANOINTED COMMUNITY WITH PURPOSE
(Ephesians 4: 7, 11-13) We believe we need to authentically represent our diverse triune God by collaborating with all the multifaceted gifts, ministries and personalities he has placed within His body.
3) BEING A MISSION COMMUNITY – SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE IN A CONFUSED WORLD
(Ephesians 4: 15). We believe God wants us to prioritise time and space in our diaries to make radical disciples of Christ this year.
